Thank you for this review. I was a lifelong Dem until recently, and all because of the way progressives shut down good faith attempts at discussion of gender ideology. I paid for a month of at The Daily Wire, something me of 2 yrs ago would be shocked to hear, because the issues surrounding gender need to be addressed. I personally find Matt very funny, despite not agreeing with him on things like abortion (though I also disagree with the Democratic Party’s shift from “safe, legal, rare” to “abortion is NBD”).
You’re right that there is so much else that could be included in a film like this, & I think it’s important to keep in mind that this may be the only way the Daily Wire audience might encounter Scott Newgent, who I agree is the true hero of this film.
I was reading gender critical critiques of the film upset about the pickle scene because it is sexist (I thought it was funny & an an attempt to lighten the mood after the he heaviness of the all that preceded it). They don’t realize that they may have more issues on which they’d agree with Matt (in episode 963 of his show he speaks in favor of female athletes, praises feminist site Reduxx for their coverage while talking about their interview with a woman inmate in NJ, and rants against anyone in his audience who would scoff in response to a politician advocating for legislation requiring porn sites use age verification). Political tribalism has made us all dumber because most people won’t interact with ideas that counter their own beliefs.
Well written and very balanced. Open, honest conversations about this growing abuse of children needs to continue. What an adult chooses to do to their own body is concerning for their own longterm well-being – but the increased targeting of children is abhorrent and must stop. This "movement" hides behind coercion, delusion, and intimidation – often for nothing more than profit or perverse pride. This alone indicates it is wrong...and most people know this.
Great review. My one criticism is that the article is poorly edited and proofread, with many typos, misspellings and grammatical errors. This is distracting and detracts from the impact of the article. There is no excuse for this.
My rebuttal comment is about your opinion that The Daily Wire should have made the film available for purchase or rent. Many people pay for subscription services to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ without ever complaining about the subscription cost. The Daily Wire is trying to build a platform and bring quality content, while being attacked and maligned. This was their most expensive project to produce to date, and is a powerful incentive to gain new subscribers, which will enable them to produce more content of this quality and scope. Once they have achieved the reach and success of Amazon, they may choose to make some of their content available for rent or purchase, but it is an unfair criticism/ask at their current level.
This was... bad. And it's mostly because the first thing that came to mind was "this person has no idea about the human psyche and is making comments about the human psyche as if they know it". As someone studying to become a clinical psychologist I think I can help a lot more. First yes, there are definitely people who begin transitioning because they think it's the right thing to do but in reality they have something else going on and they're actually being mislead by social media and friends and the internet. This happens often and many scenarios and is the exact reason people get things like body dysmorphia, anorexia, and bulimia. What should be done (and isnt) is people who are having mental struggles need to get help from someone like a therapist. I also think that gender affirming care shouldn't be able to be given out without a diagnosis of gender dysphoria.
Next, I want to bring up the talk on fetishes. First, ew. Second, there's a difference between a fetish and a kink. A fetish is something which is done to someone to sexually pleasure them and is considered a paraphilia if they are doing this said activity without someone's consent or even their own consent (doing it unintentionally). A kink is an activity normally found to be strange by most but is something someone enjoys to do. Kinks have a sexual and non-sexual side to them. Pup-play is an example of a kink while something like being attracted to feet is more of a fetish. It depends on how you interact with it for how it would be considered. If it's only sexual then it's a fetish, if it's non-sexual or both sexual and non-sexual then it's a kink. I just don't like the spread of disinformation such as this article gives so I'm informing you.
Another thing as someone who does pup play, you don't have to have a tail plug. Most people who are doing pup play in public use what's called a "show tail" which is a tail that straps to a belt. Pups just like to do pup stuff and so if someone wants to pet us we're fine with it. I sometimes just play ball in my house.
I think this is the last thing. This isn't the only thing attacking children or adults or people. The internet is a horrible place. Why do you think we've been having these shootings? There are people who have been manipulated by an insane ideology to do something crazy. We don't need to protect kids from trans people since like they'll basically run into them anyway, we need to protect them from the internet.
Matt Walsh and his ilk don't really care about this issue (I'm sure there are more children dying of firearms yearly than transitioning) but it's a great wedge issue to put on Fox to get the boomers out to vote the GOP back in.
Once they have full federal power again, they will turn around and strip all the abortion and gay rights generations have fought for, and they will do it so fast your head will spin. They will also do all they can to cut off welfare for the mentally ill. They might solve the homeless issue, by putting them in labor camps, so I suppose it won't all be bad in your eyes.

Using wrong sex pronouns for trans identified people like “he/him” for Scott Neugent undermines the message you’re sending.
One can’t be opposed to trans ideology while still playing along with it.
