Both I believe. Making a joke to deflect discomfort.

Should be shared on the national level; this is a dangerous trend for children. WHO is in charge of our children's education? Are they being academically educated OR politically indoctrinated? Silencing parents is a huge 'red flag' that political influence is priority #1. Our children's academic education is NOT a priority. There is a fundamental right to free speech and that is being denied by an elected board. Dictators (Communist nations) silence the people; is that where we are headed?

Certainly fascist when they silence the OEA. Public opinion is not on their side

Thank you for your review of the OSD board meeting April 27th and featuring Paul Thompson's speech that was cut short by the board. I have spoken at board meetings as well that have been cut short and then summarized. After the fact I began front loading my speeches, limiting to 30 seconds to a minute before President Huffman had the opportunity to silence me. I carefully prepared my public comment on the OSD budget, practising within 3 minutes. I was shocked and grateful to have had the opportunity to speak.

Stanley, I was thinking the same thoughts when I saw the sign. This has inspired me to speak on that topic at the next OSD board meeting. I have been an artist all my life. After I had my first child 40 years ago, I was asked to face paint children for various events and have been doing so ever since. Children want me to paint them as real super heroes, inventive creatures, real animals and bugs. For a day they get to have fun being an invention of their imagination. They will come to another event and ask me for example; "Last year you made me into a real ..., this year I want you to make me into a real ...". The sign however is acknowleding a child's imagination as real supported by adults. That is not real, that is not truth. Face paint washes off. Permanent physical surgeries and drug modifactions to a child because they say they want to be real is not okay.

And Stanley, yes, knowing Candace this could be a joke with a measure of truth.

It's a real sign. Stanley has it right. I guess I see it a bit darker in that it sends the message that you need to prioritize other's feelings over your own safety, that it is setting the stage to be ok with boys in the locker room etc where safety becomes an issue. It's less an issue for younger kids but it is eroding safeguarding boundaries by making light of them.
